December 2007 - Barbados

This was taken into what some people thought was a “lost jungle”, this is a place where a huge cave collapsed some years ago and the vegetation and animals found there cannot be found anywhere else on the island.

Shame I couldn’t find any Dinosaurs! ;)

December 2007 - Barbados

This is the second shot of a series of 2. It was taken inside a cave where the sea was submerging most of it at certain times… obviously, I was early :)

December 2007 - Barbados

In the same zoo I took the previous photo there were a lot of wild Monkeys. They were actually free to get out of the Zoo if they wanted to. But the daily Banana call ensured they stayed around each day!

A sudden and huge rain storm lsted about 15 minutes while I was there.. this Monkey seemed to be in charge as there were many other little ones next to him/her. I just liked to take this shot from an angle and the back… it felt more “intimate” than the other ones I have facing him/her directly.

This shot was taken at one (the only one?) Barbados zoo. It was surrounded with giant turtles and trying to hide from the crowd…

Barbados has some amazing sunset, Although I like some cloud free sunset from time to time, I prefer when there are a few clouds as it make it more interesting!

October 2007 - Dungeness, UK

On an afternoon in the Weirdest place in South East England it was all gloom and doom… the perfect weather to capture the atmosphere of this strange place! Those 2 boats looked like they had not been used in quite some time! I liked the contrast the grey sky was making that afternoon with all the dots made by the beach pebbles. I played with the composition in this photo with the different boats in the depth of field… there are actually 3 boats.

Inquisitive look

April 2008 - Croyde, UK

This photo was taken in the North Devon, on my way to a local pub I noticed those sheeps… I had to run back to where I was staying, pick up my camera and take a few photos… which I meant I was late for my pint… unforgetable in Engand! ;)

What was somewhat difficult in this photo was to get enough contrast and still be able to see the black eye of that sheep… I also liked how its ears where creating a small shadow over its eyes, almost like if it was wearing a mask of Zoro ;)

I did see it briefly when I first started to take photos but then the sheep moved away and I had to change my lens for a bigger one, wait for the right angle… then started to make some noise to get its attention! all that for a tiny shadow you can’t probably even see!

Space on Earth

April 2008 - London, UK

This photo was taken at the British Science Museum. It is part of a series of 2, the first one was posted on this site a while ago. So if you want to know what this is about you will have to search this site for some keywords… :)

But to me, although this is a chemical reaction, it reminds me of some kind of space photo!

Coming soon

May 2008 - Brand Hatch, UK

I can understand some people may find this photo too blurred and it could be taken as a “bad” photos… but that would be missing several points… :)

Those points can also appear quite far fetch, in which case, someone may really hate that photo!! :o)

After watching many cars going through and a few of them narrowly missing getting ejected off the track I decided to focus that photo on what is important, the outside white line, of which a driver must not cross… The background is blurred almost like a painting, which contrast with the outside white line making it appear more real… more dramatic… there is a story t tell, a car coming full beam/full speed, many blurred skid marks, many cars went through the same path here before… I waited for that car to be right at that position, as it then disappeared at the bottom of that small hill for a few seconds… it would not have worked the same, in my eyes, If I had waited for the car to be on the top of the hill, for 2 reasons:

1. It would then have been too big, and not blurred enough

2. There is a green line (grass) coming from the top left corner and tracing a line right in the middle of the first tier of the photo, where the car will appear, at the point when it will have to steer in the turn and avoid that, oh so important, outside white line…

Quite a lot of talking for a simple line and mostly blurred photo indeed :o)

When I think about it…  I remember going to some modern art exhibitions and being less than impress by some of the paintings… they were so simple and ugly… all that seemed to justify the price as the non sense the artist was writting about what one should see in his/her paintings…

Well… I am not an artist, I still think those modern art painting are bad (slightly less though now ;)… and I still like that photo! even if not everyone sees why I took it this way! :o)
