On top of Nady Hills near Bangalore I was waiting for my friend to get the tickets to get in the restricted area. I noticed those puppy dogs playing… there were about 5 of them. A monkey was around as well, but this was the best shot!

I like this photo because it is a stolen moment of some people everydays life… I did notice this rather unusual place to watch TV on my way to a tourist tour… I was too late to take a shot… on my way back to the hotel, I waited for almost 30 minutes just for that one shot… I took 3… because I shoot in manual mode only this one came up with enough light and not blurred… but thats good enough (I wish I did not but the front motorbike… but hey… the car was moving fast!! ![]()

I don’tknow if you are like me, but sometimes you go to some places and you know you will have an opportunity to take great photos, you know there will be plenty that will interest you…
This place in the backwaters of Varkala was one of them… from the moment I went onto that boat I knew this place was speciale… everywhere I was looking there was something that was inspiring me…
This photo was taken at the very end of the boat trip, the sun was out of sight and I had actually took my zoom lens off… when I actually notice the sun going past the coconut trees and still in sigth! I had to hurry, change lens and shoot away! the problem I had was the light… there wasn’t almost any!

This is probably my favorite photos of my whole holidays. I know it is dark… I did try to process it, I try to put more light, get more details, etc… but in the end I reverted to the original photo… Yes, I know it is dark, but to me this is exactly what I wantedto take: a very narrow spot to be in focus, the golden reflects of the sun on the water and the darkness of the night coming down.
Hate it or love it, I decided not to touch that photo and change anything! ![]()

This photo was taken in the backwaters when the sun was going down and the boat going back home. the sun was very low and the whole lake was shining with a golden light. The lake was very calm but I took this photo from the back of the boat so it was a bit more interesting.

In the backwaters there is a very old temple, 1000s years old. People worship gods in that temple and can only reach it on boat. This photo was taken as the sun was going down on that temple.

On that beach there were a number of people doing yoga while watching the sunset. That oldish man was the most interesting, he was also “humming” and there was some kind of aura about him… maybe because of his long hair or his tattoos…
This photo is not centered in purpose, the main reason is because this beach was rather busy and I wanted a shot of him alone… there were people in and out the water so it was a bit tricky. The second reason is that I actually like to do not center my photos, even breaking a bit the rule of the “third”… here is a new rule, what about dividing the photo in “quarters”
More seriously, and also trying to make more sense, I like this layout. I would have usually place the man on the right part of the photo as he is looking slightly left (at least the sun is on the left). And in fact leave an empty space on the left. But I actually think it can work the other way, and if the action is taking place on the left (i.e.: body position, sun) then I kind of like to place everything on the left as well… I already have experimented with another photo I took of a lost driver at silverstone a while back and I believe I may have even blogged about it already…

The beach of Varkala is beautiful and wild. The sea has some very strong under current and swimming there can be dangerous. At the end of the beach you can sea those flags, if you still ignore the warning some policeman will run towards you using thier whistles!

One day, the hotel manager asked me if I wanted to come and join the rest of the hotel staff to take part in a traditional “mixing of the cake”. To which I said yes… In fact every year they gather together at the hotel and mix different dry fruits with lot of different alcohool all together. They then let it set for about 2 months and use it to make their christmas cake. It was very nice to have been asked to take part and my only regret is that I will not be there to taste that cake! ![]()
