Zen tree

May 2009 – Lake District, UK

This is a similar photo to the one I posted a few weeks ago. I always liked slopes with big lonely tree… and this one is a fine specimen! :)

Welcome to Australia

March 2009 – Mauritius

As I was about to take that photo a car came over took me… this is a very loooong straigth road, which means I had to wait for a looooong time so I could get a shot without a car in the middle of it… but then came a cyclist… I was about to wait even longer when I noticed further cars coming my way. I waited the last moment to take that shot, before a car came into view… but thinking back now I don’t mind that cyclist in the photo, it gives a sense of scale and you can’t even really see it! :)

For whatever reason, this photo makes me think of Australia… not that I ever went there! ;)

Stormy grass

March 2009 – Mauritius

As I was driving in the south west part of the island in a late afternoon I saw that mountain and stopped to take that shot… while taking that photo 2 things happened, first ther ewas some loud noise in those field very near me, it sounded like 2 dogs fighting… then an old man with a bicycle came by, stopped, looked at what I was doing and said: it is much better in the morning… and just went away…

This photo was also especially difficult to get right… because the sun was rigth behind the mountain and in front of my camera (this is why it is also better in the morning ;) . I wanted to capture the vegetation but using a slow shutter meant the mountain were white… usingĀ  fast shutter meant the sky was OK but the vegetation was completely black… in the end I comprimsed and used a fairly fast shutter and my flash!

Old tree stone

May 2009 – Lake District, UK

I found that tree amazing, especially its roots. I liked the way they seemed to make one with the rocks around. That tree must have been very old indeed! :)

Peaceful bench

May 2009 – Lake District, UK

This was taken in the Hawkshead village where there is a very old and nice looking church. I liked that bench, just by the side door of the church and over looking a small hill. From that bench all you could see was a tree with very big pink flowers at the bottom, a field and some very old tomb on the far left…

February 2008 – Lisbon, Portugal

Lisbon is a great city, art is everywhere! even in building work! if you were not paying too much attention you could think those people were real… in fact that would make pay attention quite a bit if you thought so! ;)

3 tall men

May 2009 – Lake District, UK

Those 3 “statues” where just outside my hotel room I liked them so much I wanted a photo. I first put them on the staircase barrier you can see behind, however setting them that way meant I could not see their “feet”… in the end I decided to let them where they were originally and use the barrier to frame them within the photo…
