December 2007 – Barbados
I like macrophotography, and although I do not have a macro lens I still enjoy taking small things up close. That’s probably something I need to invest in soon… a new lens!
This is a series of 2 photos I took the same day while wandering on the beach on one fine evening (just after a storm).

December 2007 – Barbados
Although this photo looks like nothing special and if anything a bit odd… I quite like it!
The reason is that it was an experiment… I had a pedestral for my camera and was practising photographying the stars with very long exposure when a plane went through the sky… it gave me an idea, and later on that evening I framed my photo in such a way, next time a plane goes by I would be able to capture it. I decided not to keep the plane going all the way through the frame because… well… dont really know… because I think it makes it looks like it more as if the plane was moving!

December 2007 – Barbados
This was the beach next to the place I was staying. Needless to say it was just like a postcard ;)
Apparently, looking at an old painting I found in the place I was staying at, this was some kind of pond, just by the sea… I am not sure why there was a kind of door nor why there was a pond just next to the sea!!!! but it make this photo look quite inviting…

December 2007 – Barbados
On the east coast of the island there is a surfing spot. Getting there is a bit of a gamble! no road signs and so easy to get lost… after driving for 10 times longer than I should I eventually made it to this spot… Those rocks were quite interesting and the sun was going down… ideal time for a rhum coke ;o)

December 2007, Barbados
Well… this isn’t my hand.. otherwise how would I have taken that photo!? ;)
It was a turtle watching trip and the “guide” was in the water with bait, he was having fun throwing it next to tourist so the turtle was going right in their face :)
It was actually my second trip and I new what he was doing, first attracting the turtles next to the boat and then directing them to the tourists, so I jumped in straigth away… I wanted a shot with no tourists!

To my surprise Barbados did not have many fishes or reef, but one day I went on a boat trip a bit out of the coast and it was different… this was actually a turtle watch trip and there were many many fishes. I just liked that one, it looked kind of funny :)

This is the beach which is apparently a famous surf spot. In front of that beach you have a small bar from where you can buy rhums and coke and enjoy watching surfers while listening to loud reggae music… now, how and why that house was build on that rock remains a mistery!!

Those palmtrees have amazingly bright colors and a joy to play with focus!

Late in the day while walking on the beach I found that small Crab while I was on my way to a famous surfing spot on the east coast of the island. I almost walk on it!!

I believe that photo was taken the same day I took the one I showed yesterday. It really should be seen large. Almost every night, for the sunset, a big boat cruise left Barbados and almost all the time stood right in front of the sun when it was about to disappear!!! on that night though I didn’t mind, and I liked the sharp contrast with all the difference in lights on that photo… that boat must have had a small nuclear generator to be so bright!! ;)

Before I went to that trip to Barbados I bought a small compact camera which could go under water, the Olympus SW795. Great little thing! it doesn’t take very good “on land” photos, but it is great for underwater photos! Or in that case…. just above the water :)

The sunset there are amazing,I must have taken 100s of shots of sunset… so in the end I was trying to make them a bit more original! that palm tree was just in front of the balcony, so I had time to play with it on that shot! :o)
