Ghost Ship

Ghost Ship

November 2010 – San Francisco, USA

As I was playing with backlight photography as the sun was going down that side of the bridge I initially didn’t see that boat. I was busy trying to take photos of the large bridge cable against the sun, as I was reviewing the photos I was taking I noticed a smudge in a few of them… earlier that day I ruined quite a few photos because of a dirty lense… Annoyed I zoomed in the LCD photo and it looked like… a ship… you couldn’t actually see it with naked eyes, it was too misty and bridge with the sun right in your face… but with the right zoom lens and shutter speed, this is what you could see :)

Follow the path

November 2010, Seychelles

Sailing back from La digue to Victoria as the sun was going down this stretch of cloud was just showing us the way home. IT was amazing it happened to be right over the boat all the journey back.

A Little Bit of Peace

March 2008 – Paris, France

On my way to the Louvre museum from the Arc de Triomphe, that like pond was a welcome stop… there, one can take the type to sit down, get an ice cream, read a book or play with those remote mini sailing boats…

2 Boats

October 2007 – Dungeness, UK

On an afternoon in the Weirdest place in South East England it was all gloom and doom… the perfect weather to capture the atmosphere of this strange place! Those 2 boats looked like they had not been used in quite some time! I liked the contrast the grey sky was making that afternoon with all the dots made by the beach pebbles. I played with the composition in this photo with the different boats in the depth of field… there are actually 3 boats.

Round Boats

June 2008 – Mysore, India

This photo was taken on my way to Mysore and just next to the woman who was praying in the previous post. Local men were offering a trip in those rudimentary boats to the tourist. I resisted the temptation :o)

This was taken a few hours before the storm when I took the previous photo. Quite a different sight indeed! :)

Fancy a Swim?

March 2009 – Mauritius

This was taken from the beach on the south east coast of Mauritius. The tide was low and a storm was coming… I was on my way back to where I was staying as the rain started to be quite heavy when I saw that boat… I ran back to get my camera, and ran back to this boat under the heavy rain… while everyone else was running in the opposite direction wondering what the hell I was doing!!! I only had the time to take a few shots as my camera was starting to get very wet!

Lone Boat

March 2009 – Mauritius

Actually, the title is wrong, there were 4 other boats next to that one, but this one was the most interesting! There is something magical I think with old rusty boats… This was a stormy day and the light was quite dark, but I think it gave some intensity to the colors.

Inline Reflection

March 2009 – Mauritius

This is an area called Rivierre Noire. The day was coming to an end and I was actually taking photos of a mountain you could see in the background behind those trees. But in the end I prefered that photos of those boats on this calm water. This is a river just before it connects to the sea.

David And Goliath

March 2009 – Mauritius

This was taken on the same night I took theprevious photo. I liked the difference in contrast with the front and the center/back of the photo. It almost looks like there was a spot light on the boat and on the fisherman! :)

Fishing in Style

March 2009 – Mauritius

This photos was taken from the balcony of where I was staying. There are a lot of people fishing in the evening. I liked the composition of the 2 boats and the fisherman at that moment and the reflection of the sun which gives a sparkling effect to the whole photo…

Grand Baie Angel

March 2009 – Mauritius

Grand Baie is located at the north of the Island and is for me one of the most beautiful place I visited on the island… the water is so transparent and turquoise it looks right out of a post card :)
