I want to Believe

July 2007, Long Beach, Vancouver Island, Canada

On my way to Long Beach I had to walk through a small forest… I liked to play with the light and get some kind of divine atmosphere to the photo… unless you are an X-file fan and this light has a total differnet meaning for you ;)

A very good thing about walking on beaches on the west coast of Vancouver Island is that you can find so many different sea shells… what I especially liked about those ones was this little red crab which contrasted so much with the rest of what was on the frame…

Watching me Watching it

Long Beach, Vancouver Island, Canada, July 2007.

I love macro photos with a very deep field. So much in fact that I am considering seriously not to invest in a new camera and instead spending the money into a better lens. I usually only post one photo a day but today I will break this rule. Why?

Because it happened that someone was taking a photo of me while I was taking of photo of this! Although I only found out a few days later and I think it is funny to see how I took that photo. Better than words actually! oh, and by the way this photo is one of my all time favorite and I have it blown up on one of my house wall.

Same location and time as the photo above… with my camera bag on my back… you can just about to see the mussel on that photo! :)

[Edit 16/07/08: I originally wrote you can almost see the "muscle on that photo"... meaning "mussel" of course. Having said that, you can almost see my muscles on that photo ;)]

Green Light

Green Light

Long Beach, Vancouver Island, Canada, July 2007

On Vancouver Island there is a a tropical forest near the sea on the west coast. That forest is amazing, it looks very wild and they have built a small wodden path all around/in the forest. It was a very sunny day and although the forest is very dense, some ray of light managed from time to time to go through the vegetation. This was one of those moment.

Look at me in the eyes and I’ll tell you…

Look at me in the eyes and I'll tell you

Vancouver Island, Canada, July 2007

It was a very nice wedding I attended in Canada. They had an official photographer which was right in the front. So I didn’t want to be in the way… having said that I couldn’t resist having a go! :)

So I used my big 300mm lense and went up to the first 2 rows on the right hand side. I didn’t want the couple to notice me, and they didn’t!

I took this photo just after they both said “I do” and put each others ring, just before they kissed. That moment, that moment when they both look into each other eyes… was the moment I chose to take the photo…

Pretty Hands

Vancouver Island, Canada, July 2007

While in Canada I was invited to a Wedding, even at the Hen night! yup that is right! a Hen night! Well, I was only there to help the owner of the house to server drinks and canape… still… It was kind of unusual to have 2 men surrounded by 50 women!

They had organised some kind of beauty treatment for the girls, one of those was a manicure. This is one of them :)

Fast Train

Vancouver, Canada, July 2007

I managed to get a ticket on the train to Whistler through some friends in Canada. This was a great experience and a great way to get there! It lasts for a few hours and you can see a lot of the country side in between Vancouver and Whistler.

I took several shots to give this sensation of speed you get when putting your head outside the window :)

Ghost Bridge

Canada, Hornby Island, Vancouver Island, July 2007

I like Canda, I really like Vancouver (not as good as Calgary though ;) and I really really like Vancouver Island… now… I *ADORE* Hornby Island just off Vancouver Island. This is an old island traditionnally very hyppies and it has kind of remained that way. After spending a day there I was waiting for the ferry back to Vancouver Island and I started wandering around… this was just next to the ferry stop, the beach was full of oysters, giant oysters I should say! and it was kind of hard to walk on those!

To me this photo looks a million time better in black and white than it does in color… I actually don’t think I kept the color version!

Old Truck

Canada, Vancouver Island, Tofino. July 2007

Vancouver Island is a truely beautiful Island the landscape is so diverse for such a small island. On my way to  North of the Island driving a nice mustang convertible I stopped to Tofino.

It was such a hot day! I was looking for a “whale watching shop” and was walking around the shops when I saw an old truck… it was all rusty but looked as if it was still in use!

All you can see on that photo is its front, but the whole truck was like this! :)

Book of something!

Book of Something!

July 2007, Canada, Victoria

On a summer holiday I went to Victoria in Canada, Vancouver Island. I visited there what I think was the city hall for British Columbia. A building where the English queen apparently comes to on official visit. The building was amazing, huge and very old. There were a number of old artifact there, one of which was this book. Unfortunately I can’t remember what it was and why it was on display!

But I just liked the calligraphy and wanted to provide a depth of field.

4 Colours Sky

Canada, Hornby Island, Vancouver, August 2007

Hornby Island is an hippy island, at the center of that beautiful island were some shops… food, clothes, art, etc. While eating a very nice (and HOT!) burrito I looked up… and this is what I saw…

Just liked the strong contrast of red, black, green and blue!

Mystery Mountain

July 2007, Canada, Whistler.

Staying in Whistler, this photo was taken while being “lifted” to the top of the mountain.

The fog was very thick and you could almost see nothing, now and then though you could see through a patch of clear sky. This is one of those moment!

Although I also took some photos in color, I think when you have fog black and white just looks better!
