I stayed on the top of the aiguille du midi for about 4h, and it was magical to see those clouds coming and going… especially when they were hitting the top of mountains

That photo does not do justice to the reality! that lake was dark green and the contrast with the sunny moutain was outstanding… the problem was either I was getting the moutain in the photos with a black lack or a green lake and a white sky… this was the best compromise after so many attempts!

Here is all the legend you need! :)
I liked how the view matched so well that photo.

At the top of the Aiguille du Midi you feel on the top of the world, and this is why!
The people you see walking were in fact… skiers… They were going through impossible cliffs, very impressive!

Meet Juju, he was the driver who followed the air balloon accross the area of Chamonix to pick us up. He had a great face and looked like from another era. He was such a nice guy who was hard at work taking the air balloon appart once we landed.

As the sun was coming up in that valley, the air ballon was coming down. This produced some interesting shadows with the remaining of the clouds appearing as mist.

This angle gives a sense of movement and the low rising sun gives an intensity to those forefront trees, almost as if I was using a flash :)
The landing actually occured in that first road bend from the top.

It looks as if the big guy in the background is holding a (big) kids balloon, I liked how the different lines are positionned in that photo.

Just before the balloon completely defleated I managed to take that shot. I had to help holding the air balloon basket in one hand and shoot with the over.

As the air balloon started its descent through the cloud there was a brief moment when that house became visible. As I was taking photos just moment earlier I was ready!

Of all the shots I took of the air baloon shadow, this one was my favorite as it seems the clouds in the background echo the shape of the shadow. I certainly cannot claim to have lined that up in purpose, but I did try to take a shot of the shadow when it had the shape of an heart.

The trees looked unreal from that angle as we are not used to see them like this, they almost look like plastic toys.
