I took hundreds of shot for that sunset, so much in fact that I started to be blinded by the light of the sun through my lens… I also tend to see sunset from a lens, this is why I have decided from now on to bring with me a tripod and use my remote control!

As I was chilling out with friends next to this beach I noticed how pink the sky was and then how white that cloud was… I couldn’t resist but take a photo, this is really teh time when my polorizing lens was really useful! it helped defining the clouds and emphazing the different colours. The funny thing though, is that this picture is very close to reality! without the polorizing lens the colors were still there but blend… with that filter it actually helped recreating what I saw that day.

Although dark, I feel as if this photo tell a story… the bottom of the photo could look like a night sky full of stars and the dark blue cloud be the earth atmosphere… Funny enough, I can see that better with that photo like this that if I actually turn the photo 180 degrees!

One day, I will have to sail on a boat like this with a sunset like that! that’s what I say everytime I take such photo! :)

The sky that night was amazing, very bright and white on the left, some blue and pink in the middle and dark and purple on the right. I tried to take a panoramic photo of it, but it didn’t work out as I wanted. Mainly because I didn’t think about the wave movements… I’ll know that next time I try to do a panoramic set of shots other the ocean! in the mean time, this is the center shot, and in fact the most interesting part of the panoramic in my eyes.

I always like to go to the beach early and leave late for taking photos of a sunset, there is often some great differences in the sky. Although I also took a shot of the sky alone I eventually chose this composition with part of the beach to give more emphasis to the the color and clouds in the sky.
May 2011 – France, Calais
The sea was very calm which contrasted with the sky as for the whole trip to the UK it looked as if it was going to rain. Instead, there were spots of bright lights in the sea :)

Of all the shots I took of the air baloon shadow, this one was my favorite as it seems the clouds in the background echo the shape of the shadow. I certainly cannot claim to have lined that up in purpose, but I did try to take a shot of the shadow when it had the shape of an heart.

I tried to create a black and white contrast between the two parts of the photo, roughly divided in diagonal. The trees look like ghost, which is also emphasize by the deserted sky lift station.

This photo reminds me almost of an underwater shot were half the lens is outside the water.
In fact, you really felt as if you were in a different world up there.
To really appreciate this photo you need to look at it in a large format.
That house was well hidden and although at the top of a small mountain, you had to be in the air to see it. I had to wait so the sun was shinning through the clouds to lit it up properly.

At that altitude we could see mountains miles away. The sun look like a distant star in that photo, I was concerned not to damage the sensor!
