I liked the contrast between that old and torned light shade and the new light bulb… but the bulb being an ecological one, I felt there was some kind of link between the wood, hay, and low consomption energy… The fact the bottom of the photo is black also contrasts with the white inside of the shade and the bulb.

I took hundreds of shot for that sunset, so much in fact that I started to be blinded by the light of the sun through my lens… I also tend to see sunset from a lens, this is why I have decided from now on to bring with me a tripod and use my remote control!

As I was photographying the stars I played with this palmtree which had a dimmed spot at the bottom, we a few experimental shots I managed to get the right balance between getting the tree light up and still being able to see the stars.

This is a Serin Du cap, feasting on some dogs food left over. I managed to get very close as this bowl was next to a swimming pool… that shot was taken with my water up my waste, not a bad place to wait 30 minutes in the baking sun… I was getting worried for my camera though… I stayed there waiting for the birds to come for long enough my camera was getting almost too hot to handle…

This is a Boulboul, it seemed very happy on that shot, I liked that old garden chair and I took a few shots of different birds waiting there to eat the rice left over by the dogs. I thought it would be an appropriate shot for Valentine’s Day, so Happy Valentine’s Day to every reader! :)

The same Cardinal as with the previous shot and taken the same day. It is waiting for the dog to leave so it can eat some rice. I managed to get quite close, so it must have been very hungry! :)

Starting with a few series of bird shots.
A little Cardinal bird. I was surprised it stayed there for some time, gicing me the chance to take quite a few shots. In fact, it knew the dogs were going to be fed and was waiting for his chance to get some rice! I like that shot because of how he seems to aim at the leaf in front of it… I fact, I think it was looking at me approaching!

I like this photo, even if it doesn’t have anything special. First, I think it is framed right, without the need for any cropping. Then the boat follows the rule of the 3rd, and gives a sense of movement to the right. The front man helps drawing the attention to the boat too, symbolising any viewers of that photo. It also shows 2 different way of fishing and level of poverty. Those who fish by boat and those who do so by foot, walking on the dead corals.

A show about Sega, a dance which is typical from Mauritius. The Music is similar to other Creole music but the dansers have long dresses they swing around while dansing… maybe a mix between Creole and Flamenco? ;)

This is a small hut on the beach in front of a nice Hotel in the South West of the Island. As I was taking photos of the sunset and looked back at the hotel and noticed that nice texture of the Hut roof and the palm tree behind.

A calm sea for a beautiful sunset in Mauritius. After taking so many shots of sunset, sometimes you want something a bit different…
