Right, after looking for a new look for this photo blog I think I have finally settled on the present one.
I needed something with side bars but which was still focusing on the main photo content.
I think I have the right balance now and should keep the site as it is for a while!
Hope you enjoy the change.

I have decided to revert back to the old style for this blog as I wasn’t fully satisfied with the new one. I think none of the themes I have found so far works as I want out of the box, so I will have to spend a bit more time customising the one I previously selected. Stay tune for q new look still to come! :)
In the mean time you can enjoy the new daily Photo I am publishing…

After a year with no cosmetic changes I decided to refresh the look of that website. I hope you like it.
It is darker and I feel it helps increasing the focus on the photos, it should now also be easier to follow updates made on this blog.
Now, I just need to blog some more photos every day :)

I recently came across that mazing site, this guy took a year off to photograph the sky in different part of the world. Eventually being able to add 30K+ photos together and build a giant 5000 Mega Pixel photo of the sky above us.
There is a nice summary of his story here
And the website he created is here: http://skysurvey.org/
Amazing work!

A few months ago I bought a Circular Polarized filter as I read it could be useful to enhance some colours when taking photos, especially the sky.
That’s all I read… nothing else… which means I thought it was just like the UV filter I had, one that you just put it on your lens and forget about… I did notice that once on, that filter could rotate but didn’t think much of it.
I recently went on a road trip in France (as you can see by the photos I have been posting lately) and was a bit disapointed by the polarized filter… I couldn’t see much difference with or without it!
That was until this weekend when I was having a conversation with a friend who wants to buy a new DLSR camera and was asking questions about cameras/lenses/etc…
Then we spoke about the polarized lens… to both my joy and horror I realised I had no clue how to use it!!! I immediately try to rotate that filter and although it was a dull grey day the difference in the sky was amazing!!!! doh!!!
As we say with computers… RTFM!!!! (Read The Lovely Manual)
So it is great that now I know how to use that filter and I can’t wait to go out and experiment! but I am also a bit disappointed the filter was just randomly rotated while I was taking photos during the recent road trip… doh!! need another road trip then!!!
So all I can say is, Thanks to my friend for that conversation!!

Funny how things go, I ran dry of photos a few months ago and now I have about 90 photos waiting to be blogged!
With even more field trip planned soon this is bound to grow too!
I toyed with the idea of mixing the photos, i.e.: the most recent to be blogged tomorrow, then an old photo the next day, etc… in fact this is what I was doing when I started the site… but so far I have decided not to go back to that, as I think this kind of group the photos in themes naturally if I blog my photos chronologically.

I have added a Google Translation service to this site. There are now countries flag on the top left corner of this site and you should be able to choose between French, Spanish and German.
The translation are far from perfect, but if you don’t really understand english then it is better than nothing! :)

I am back from a long holiday… full of photos, some of them are among the best I ever took.
I should resume posting photos with new material very soon :)

I took a 2 weeks break from posting photos on that web site, but from later today (at around 8am UK time) you should start to see some daily photos again :)

boston.com has published some photos of the main events from 2010, some of those shots are truely amazing. Be warned though, some could also make for a very difficult viewing (i.e.: dead people).

This site may not display any photos for a few hours, it is because I have been clearing up my flickr account. I was sharing 1,000s of photos which were not really interesting and I am now rearranging the photos I am sharing.
Everything should be back to normal later today…

As I was reading Thomas Hawk blog recently (links at the bottom of the page), I came accross an article he wrote about a great free tool called Tagerator. It connects to your flickr account, grab all the tags from your photos and allow you to review them, so you can easily find which tags you have misspelled, offers a link to all the photos under a specific tags, etc…
It is a very neat way to look at your tags.
But it also has a very neat little feature… to generate a tag cloud picture, as the one I have generated from my flickr photostream (minus names of individuals). The size of the font is suppose to reflect the number of photos assigned to that tag. I guess I like holidays, France and London a lot ;)
