November 2010 – Seychelles
It was very hot and humid in that jungle as I was trying to take this shot, the guide was telling everyone how we should not stand under trees as the big massive coco de mer could fall off… it made me speed up! that and also the fact a million of ants were trying to devore your feet and legs whenever you stood still for a few seconds, anywhere in that jungle!

November 2010 – Seychelles
It was very early in the morning, the sea was just flat and immense, that little fishing boat seemed to appear from nowhere.

November 2010 – Seychelles
The sea was so calm and the sky was amazing with a mix of clear sky and clouds. The big boat I was on was catching up that smaller one fairly quickly, my ideal photo would have been to have the sun slightly lower so it was about to go under those small clouds, but I would have missed the alignement with the sun reflection in the sea. I chose not to get the boat right in the middle of the reflection to give it a sense of movement, the sailing boat is going towards the sun.

I just loved the shape that old tree made in the water, I also liked the contrast of colours betwee nthe gray of the tree and the greenish reflection of the jungle on the lake. What make this photo even more interesting for me is that there are two type of reflections taking place in that photo, a background reflection through the all photo (green) and another reflection on the tree itself. And if you look for it, it almost work as an optical illusion :)

November 2010 – Seychelles
What I liked with this bark is that it works like a cloud, you can see many things if you look at it long enough… a face? a cat? As I was taking this photo I was being told to STOP TAKING SO MANY PHOTOS, IT IS JUST A PIECE OF WOOD and start enjoying the beach! Well, it isn’t just a piece of wood… and I did enjoy the beach eventually :)

November 2010, Seychelles
Sailing back from La digue to Victoria as the sun was going down this stretch of cloud was just showing us the way home. IT was amazing it happened to be right over the boat all the journey back.

November 2010, Seychelles
A few birds were following the boat I was on and kept flying very low at very high speed. I first thought they were trying to catch fish but then they never did! and it looked more and more as if they were instead playing as they also liked to dive down and “float” very close to the water just in front of the ship. Maybe in the hope of catching a flying fish… the sunset was already gone and it gave the calm water some very interesting reflections, making it look like a painting. The difficulty in this photo was to get the balance right with allowing enough light and at the same time allowing for that bird not to be blurry, as it was going very fast. So what I did was to use my 300mm lens and follow the movement of the bird. It took me many attempts, especially since the boat was going quite fast as well, but I finally got what I was after!

As I was walking on this beach, I noticed those bird prints and started to follow them, hoping I could find the bird that made them! I did not find the bird but as I was walking back I found those two foot print next to each other quite nice! As if you are just looking at them you could think someone did walk hand in hand with the animal :)
I guess I liked the contrast, the story and simplicity of what I saw.

This was actually part and still attached to a much larger dead tree. I wanted to play with the bottom corner of the photo and invite the viewer in the photo, as if to leap in and touch the water! almost like a finger.

I am not often happy with the quality of this little under water camera, but in this instance I am! It has a feature to measure the depth at which you are going and I kept trying to go deeper. For a few shots I asked the person above to follow me and it created this scene where it looks as if I am reach out to get something and she is trying to warn me not to do it! where in fact I am holding the camera as deep as I can, trying to focus the lens on us and she is trying to swim down. I prefer the first story :) The depth I reach on that photo was about 10 meters I think, at least on one of them I reach the camera’s limit! Ho, and the sun seem to be at the right place too! I guess that’s another lucky shot to add the the lucky library!

I am not sure exactly what that old rusty ring originally was… maybe a big old barrel? I liked how the water kept washing it in and out. The funny side of this story is that as I was shooting this.. thing… a member of our group started to shout shark!! Although I was in the water it wasn’t very deep and I did have a reflex of getting out of the water! There was indeed a shark, but not a big one!

I liked the symbol of that champagne cork, laying on the beach with the sunset going down. I dont usually like composition shot, that cork was already there but I must admit I did turn the logo of the cork in the right way.
