Green Drop
February 2012 – UK, Esher
This tear drop was actually pointed to me as I was focusing on the dead flowers of that plant. I had to crop the image slightly as I do not have a macro lens… yet! :)

I am not too sure how this happened, but this garden table was covered with snow, and it looked as if the snow just slided on the chair as if it was a table cloth.

This was a flower from a very old plant/tree. Because of the very mild winter it had blossom very early and now that winter has finally come, all the flowered had died. I still very much liked the color, and wanted to capture the white of the snow in the lower background as a reminder of why that flower did die.

After a long walk it was time to go down, this part of the mountain looked surreal, as if it was out of a cinema set. As if you were in a Lord of the Ring movie trying to reach that evil castle on the top of that mountain in the background… probably too much imagination after a long and tiring but very enjoyable walk :)

Suspended to a cable it was an amazing site of the Mont Blanc, the morning what quite cloudy but as we reach the summit all the clouds quickly disappeared. It was quite a sight to see many climbers so close to you. These climbers on the photo were actually going back to the Aiguille du Midi it seems. I liked how the snow contrasted between the fore and back ground. One is clam and looks like a desert and the other is stressed and dangerous.

As I was travelling in a cable car in between the Aiguille du Midi in France and somewhere I can’t remember the name in Italy, that cable car stopped for a moment. As I looked around that amazing landscape, I saw those two small dots who were people going up to the Mont Blanc. I quickly changed the lens so I could see more than just two dots and I was amused that they actually stopped to take a photo. It is a shame I don’t know who they are, because I am sure they must have some amazing shots from there, but I am also quite certain they’d appreciate the shots of them I have from above. That photos actually almost never came to be for some reasons that are personal and that I may share another time :)

I was amazed to see that many crow so high up, 3842m high!, they were not really scared of humans as they were after any crumbles we may have. I knew that bird was about to fly, but I almost miss it as it was so cold my hands were freezing!

This looked hard, they were struggling to go up! I am not sure if they decided not to sky down or if they had sky on the glacier and were coming back. I actually think some of those guys were in the same lift I took down, about an hour after I took that photo!

As I was enjoying a rest and a raclette I noticed a pink reflection in the restaurant window… I first thought the pink was due by the window, but got curious and had to go outside, just in case… and in fact this was the real colour of the mountain as the sun was going down. No filter, Beautiful!

A few climbers actually came this way to the viewing deck I was taking photos from. Not sure if they were expecting someone to be there taking many shots of them… it just made this photo a bit more interesting :)

This is a panoramic of 4 photos stiched together with Hugin. The weather was fantastic and the Mont Blanc was just superbe that day!

I stayed on the top of the aiguille du midi for about 4h, and it was magical to see those clouds coming and going… especially when they were hitting the top of mountains
