Framing the Window
April 2011 – France St Tropez
That wall made me think of a painting and I liked the minimalist appeal ot it. The window almost look like a door, in fact, you could argue that this door almost look like a window :)

One of the symbol of St Tropez, even there you can get different type/version and this photo was of the type I prefer :)
It apparently only became a symbol of St Tropez because of Bridgitte Bardot who imported that receipe there!

I actually forgot my tea and when I looked I saw that high contrast in colour, I liked how it looked like a bull’s eye. You can just start to see the tea mixing with the water almost as if you could see 3 states/form of tea :)

Appart from the light that I really liked when I took that photo, I was also attracted by that sense of a line of defense being made by those modern boats, as if they were ready to storm at you if you wanted to attack the old town… maybe I have too much imagination :)
In fact, they look like guardians, and you could take that symbols in two different ways… Those boats and their owners are what make St Tropez what it is, but also prevents anyone who is not rich to own those buildings…

This was taken from a boat which was out of the water and had its engine took off, this left a hole at the back of it, although I couldn’t see anything inside I experimented with my camera and while playing with the shutter speed I eventually managed to take that shot. I like this shot as it is a view of something you hardly ever see and you are probably not meant to see :)

Someone had to do that. It is a sign saying that bikes are not allowed to be parked here…

This old Aston Martin actually looked more like an American Muscle car than a distinguished Aston. I liked how a classic car was put in front of a classic background which matched its message of luxury… what better place than St Tropez to take an Aston Martin photo :).
The very expensive and new boats in the middleground just emphasize that feeling of luxary.
By the way, none of the owners of those boats had that car, they all had new Bentleys :)

On a long walk by the St TRopez Coast I came accross that dead tree. It seemed to point in one direction, I found that angle worked with the clear sky and the circle of tree in the top left part of the photo.

One nice thing about St Tropez is that although it is really REALLY full with tourist it hasn’t lost its soul by retaining the old style of its building. Those flats in front of the port seem squashed against one another. I tried to emphasize that by making them as tall as I could.

This was at the entrance of a porcelain shop. Although you were not allowed, all you wanted to do was to touch it! :)

I just liked how the windows were not quite aligned on that wall, the 3 windows on the top aren’t even aligned horizontally. The colours creates a “pastel effect”

Those St Tropez Flat are gorgeous and look like they are coming right from the past. I initially take shots of just the yellow building, but thought it would be more interesting to include the open window in the left, the building on each side also gives a balance to the photo.
